After subtracting the departing seniors, the underclassmen that declared early for the NFL draft and the players that entered the NCAA transfer portal – and adding all the newcomers, whether incoming freshmen or transfers – the Crimson Tide currently has 89 scholarship players signed for the 2022 season, which is four over the NCAA’s 85 limit for football teams.
Nick Saban and company can also still add players, whether via the traditional signing day next week or via the transfer portal. Alabama already added a trio of transfers that are considered among the top 10 nationally by 247Sports in cornerback Eli Ricks, running back Jahmyr Gibbs and wide receiver Jermaine Burton. UA has a couple of prep targets out there, too.
