The 2020 Heisman Award winner is a versatile weapon with plenty of explosiveness. Although he may be slender in size, this senior wide out’s game on the gridiron is as big as they come. These are the top plays, highlights, and most memorable moments of DeVonta Smith’s Alabama Crimson Tide football career!
Smith came to the Crimson Tide at a time where there were several other future NFL receivers on the team as well. As a freshman, he caught 8 passes for 160 yards and 3 TD’s. In 2018, the young receiver continued to improve, notching 42 catches, 693 yards and 6 TD’s.
Smith burst on the scene as one of the most consistent receivers in the nation during 2019. The 2nd-team All-American and All-SEC selection logged 68 receptions for 1,256 yards and 14 TD’s. However, the smooth pass-catcher would record historic production during his 11 contests of the 2020 season. In his final collegiate experience, Smith brought in 98 catches for 1,511 yards along with 17 scores, setting SEC records with each of those numbers.
The talented receiver rarely drops passes, runs fluid routes, and has game-breaking speed. At any moment, he has the ability to bust a game wide open from any spot on the field. NFL defenses should beware of the dynamic speedster that is DeVonta Smith come this fall.
