It was announced in August 2021 that the Texas Longhorns & Oklahoma Sooners would leave the Big 12 and join the SEC. The Big 12 then made the decision to add Brigham Young, Houston, Cincinnati and UCF to replace the two blue blood programs, who are expected to leave the league in 2024 or 2025. With these four new members, plus the remaining eight that are still in the conference, the Big 12 will be back to a 12-team league.
Oklahoma has basically dominated the Big 12 over the past decade and is the only conference team to make the College Football Playoff since its inception. Of the 12 teams that will make up the league moving forward, is there one that can step up & be that dominant team like Oklahoma has been?
