West Virginia vs. Texas Preview | Big 12 | College Football 2022
In this WVU football video, I am joined by @Fanatic Perspective to breakdown and preview the upcoming Big 12 Conference football game between the West Virginia Mountaineers and the Texas Longhorns. I will give the odds to the game, then Steve & I will talk about injury updates, key players to watch for each team, some key matchups, the pressure for Steve Sarkisian to win at Texas, the culture of the Texas program, and much more. We will also give our score predictions at the end.
Quarterback, J.T. Daniels will lead the West Virginia Mountaineer offense into Austin, Texas. On the season, Daniels has completed 87 of 134 passes for 956 yards and 7 touchdowns, to only 2 interceptions. He is getting help from Freshman sensation Running Back, C.J. Donaldson, who is 4th in the Big 12 in rushing with 380 yards on 52 carries. Daniels’ favorite target so far has been Wide Receiver, Bryce Ford-Wheaton, who has caught 27 balls for 319 yards and 4 touchdowns. Defensively, WVU is led by Defensive Tackle, Dante Stills, who has 2.5 sacks and 9 total tackles on the season. However, Stills has also created room for his teammates to make plays by taking on double teams. Linebacker, Lee Kpogba, is leading the team in tackles with 24.
The Longhorns have been hit hard by injuries, including at the quarterback position, where star signal caller, Quinn Ewers, remains questionable for this game against the Mountaineers due to a shoulder injury received in the game against Alabama in week 2. However, Texas has plenty of weapons around the quarterback to help take the pressure off. If Ewers is unable to play, Texas will lean on backup, Hudson Card, who has played well in Ewers’ absence. Card has completed 53 of 80 passes so far, for 620 yards and 3 touchdowns. One of the key contributors on offense will be Bijan Robinson, who is arguably the best running back in the country. So far in 2022, Robinson has rushed 67 times for 412 yards and 7 touchdowns. Their star Wide Receiver, Xavier Worth, has also been banged up, but is expected to play in this game. Worthy has 14 catches for 212 yards and a touchdown. On defense, the Longhorns rely on veteran Linebacker, Demarvion Overshown, who has 29 total tackles and a sack so far on the season.
