A nationally televised football game involving an Ohio high school team has created unanswered questions about its legitimacy. ESPN commentators brought up suspicions during a game between Bishop Sycamore and Florida’s IMG Academy at Canton’s Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium that took place on Sunday.
“Bishop Sycamore told us they had a number of division one prospects on their roster. To be honest, a lot of that we could not verify,” one commentator could be heard saying during the game. Florida’s IMG Academy would go on to shut out Bishop Sycamore, 58-0.

The same Bishop Sycamore squad had just played on Friday night in western Pennsylvania against Sto-Rox, losing 19-7. Bishop Sycamore is a school allegedly from the Columbus, Ohio area.
The Ohio High School Athletic Association said the school is not within their membership, therefore, they do not follow the association’s rules. According to 3News, the school’s website offered almost no information about where the school is, what kind of school it is or any contacts.

“ESPN couldn’t verify who ANY of their players were in their scouting databases – Most of their players were JUCO dropouts aged 19 and over,” said one reporter. “At least one player was using a fake name and lied about his recruiting. Their address is a residential house.”
Their head coach even allegedly has an active warrant out for his arrest, per that same reporter. The only content provided on the school’s website was about the football team. The team’s social media accounts showed the same. Check out 3News full story about the team below.
