Great time talking with Brett Riley, The new Head Coach of the Long Island University’s Men’s Ice Hockey Team! They are the 61st D1 program to be added. The LIU sharks, also added a women’s Division 1 hockey team in 2018 and had a great first season.
We had a great time talking with Brett about how he came up playing hockey, growing up in a hockey family of coaches and scouts and his plans for how with everything going on, presently, with covid-19. How they look to be ready for their upcoming season.
Coach Riley shares a lot of great information with us on his outlook, how he’s taking his past experiences as a coach, as a developer of a D3 program ( at Wilkes- Barre) and what lessons he took from being the assistant coach at Colgate.
Excited to see how the LIU Sharks come together with the culture and chemistry in their first year. If there’s anything we took out of this talk, it’s that they will battle, they will have camaraderie and the players assembled will have a strong ownership of their ability to lead.
Training Aspects: Unleash the potential Video-cast.
We strive to help players unleash their true potential through physical training. However, our physical training is not all that we do. Our focus is to help each player understand more about the person they are, the mental strength that they have , the awareness of what the body needs. Strength, today, is a loose term. The ability to be resilient, be confident, and understand the action it takes to achieve success is where most players often get lost.
Our goal with the “Unleash the Potential” video-cast, is to help each player understand a little more about what it takes, as well as, stay in the know. Being a talented hockey player is half the battle the other half is understanding how to navigate through the hockey world.

Hockey performance training is like a puzzle. The only way you get true results is by taking the right pieces and connecting them. Using random exercises that are demonstrated as the best exercise may not fit your specific needs. Get assessed and get a program that will get you to the next level.
