Texas Women’s Basketball Season Tipoff with Lifetime Longhorn Danni Williams
There’s a lot of excitement and optimism surrounding Vic Schaefer’s Texas Longhorns women’s basketball program as they tip off the regular season tonight, November 9, 2021 vs. New Orleans. The Longhorns WBB program has a high profile match-up in the second game of the season on Sunday, November 14, 2021 against #3 Stanford Cardinal.
Serenity Douglas sat down with Lifetime Longhorn Danni Williams to discuss her transition from college to pro ball, and the season ahead for the Texas Longhorns Women’s College Basketball team.
Last year, as a 6-seed in the NCAA tournament in 2021, Texas women’s basketball advanced to the Elite 8 before losing to top seeded South Carolina 62-34. Texas defeated Bradley in the first round, then upset UCLA 71-62 in the second round. The Texas women’s basketball team then defeated 2-seeded Maryland 64-61. An Elite 8 trip in 2021 in year 1 under head coach Vic Schaefer was a fantastic and surprise finish, and now the Texas women’s basketball team is looking for more.
Danni Williams played for Texas A&M, before transferring to Texas as a graduate transfer during the 2017-2018 season. Now Danni is playing professional basketball in France.
