Texas Longhorns recruiting: Top OL prospects and Devin Brown to visit Texas football Week 11 game
Orangebloods recruiting experts Jason Suchomel and Cole Patterson discuss the latest news surrounding Texas Longhorns football and high school recruiting.
The Texas Longhorns are trying to end a 4-game losing streak at home in Austin against Kansas Jayhawks football at Darrell K. Royal (DKR) Texas Memorial Stadium. 2022 Rivals 4-star QB Devin Brown, from Croner Canyon High School in Draper, Utah is a USC committ, but he’s still considering Texas and Ole Miss. Brown will be in Austin on an official visit as Texas hosts Kansas. Brown is committed to USC, but Suchomel says he does not expect that commitment to hold firm as we push towards the Early National Signing Day on December 15, 2021. Additionally, 5-star OT Kam Dewberry from Humble, Texas along with Devon Campbell a 5-star OG from Bowie High School in Arlington, TX are taking their official visits and Jason Suchomel says 5-star Oregon commit Kelvin Banks from Summer Creek HS in Houston will be in town on an unofficial visit. In terms of high 4 star and 5 star prospects at the QB position and along the OL, that’s an area Sark desperately needs to hit on based on continued issues with the 2021 Texas Longhorns football team.
Cole and Suchomel talk about how much recent games, including the Texas Longhorns 4-game losing streak, has on recruiting and volatility in recruiting.
Another point Jason Suchomel highlights is the importance of Texas throwing numbers at the problem at the QB position. Suchomel feels the need for Texas Longhorns and Sark to go after as many QB’s as possible, because, more than anything, they’ve got to get the QB position solved.
In terms of overall recruiting and big picture stuff with the Horns, Jason Suchomel sums it up succinctly: “I think the crowd is going to have to be good to be a factor. This staff in year 1, it’s a big of a slippery slope that Steve Sarkisian and his staff are battling. It’s a vicious circle that just keeps getting bigger and bigger and bigger as Texas A&M continues to build and Texas continues to struggle.”
