The College Football Playoff Committee yesterday discussed moving to a 12 team playoff format.
Six teams will receive automatic bids, going to the Power 5 champions, plus one going to the best Group of Five champions. Six other teams will receive at-large bids.
The first round of playoffs will be on campus two weeks after conference championship games. The next rounds will be at bowl games.
