This is an adaptation of a beautiful composition called “Razor’s Edge”, from the album “Five Fingers” by Music from the World of Osho, a collaboration by musicians from all over the world. This song is set to the raga Mayamalavagowla in Carnatic music, or Bhairav in Hindustani music, in Adi taal.
As a young kid, I (Vikaasa Ramdas) grew up listening to this lovely melody and over the years, it stayed with me as a tune that gave me peace and inner strength in times of uncertainty and worry.
I performed this song many times over the years, giving my own touch to the song and also being inspired by my Guru’s (Mandolin U. Shrinivas) composition, called “Maya” from the album “The Believer” by Remember Shakti. As it turned out, this was one of the first songs we (Murky Clouds) played together as a band, and it felt so perfect and apt that we were immediately able to find perfect harmony in our arrangement of this song with Turkish percussion. We hope that you’ll enjoy listening to this song as much as we enjoy playing it!
