Well you guys, the Kansas City Chiefs are your 2023 Super Bowl LVII Champions. And after a game for the ages, this victory was well deserved for KC, Patrick Mahomes, Andy Reid & company. But, it wasn’t exactly smoothing sailing for the Chiefs throughout the entire game. In fact, it looked like they were in trouble at times. But how they were specifically able to flip the script and grab this win over the Philadelphia Eagles was in a way that I don’t think many initially realized.
First, the Chiefs offense to start was slow aside from their first drive. They couldn’t move the ball, couldn’t get momentum, and with the injury to Patrick Mahomes ankle once again, things only looked to be getting worse. But in the 2nd half, the brilliance of HC Andy Reid and OC Eric Bieniemy was on full display. By getting the run game going with Isiah Pacheco & Jerick McKinnon, the pass game flowing with Travis Kelce, Juju Smith-Schuster, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Kadarius Toney, Skyy Moore, Justin Watson, etc, and with the Chiefs offensive line possibly impressing more than anything, they looked unstoppable from halftime to the end.
And then even to touch on the Chiefs defense, they absolutely stepped up when it mattered too. From the Nick Bolton fumble recovery touchdown, all the way to the continual big plays made limiting the possibilities of the Eagles offense in the 2nd half from their stars in Chris Jones, Frank Clark & Willie Gay to Carlos Dunlap, Justin Reid & L’Jarius Snead, contributions can go all sorts of ways as to how KC was able to pull off a championship win by all standards.
