As I have mentioned in my previous video, the NBA is a hungry world and not only that, it’s also an aggressively expanding one. New players enter the NBA each and every year through the Draft. There are at least 3 big names that are projected to become the future of the league in every Draft. This season those names were the Rookie of the Year award winner LaMelo Ball, Anthony Edwards, and my personal favorite James Wiseman. The hype train around James Wiseman was real and rightfully so, this young man proved that he deserves that 2nd overall pick status. To put it mildly, the sky is the limit for this kid and only time will tell how great he can actually be. However, do the Warriors have enough time until their veteran superstar core’s energy starts to wither away? Also, I would really need to hear your opinion as I’m very curious what you, my dear subscribers, Golden State Warriors fans, and just passing-by viewers think about the whole Dubs’ future. Firstly, I would like to make things clear. I have very high hopes when it comes to such a talent like James Wiseman and I do NOT think that it would be the right choice to trade him away after only one season. My opinion is that the Golden State Warriors have bigger problems than that like cap space, Kelly Oubre Jr.’s status next season, and lack of offensive threats beyond Stephen Curry. Although, trade rumors had already begun even before James Wiseman was officially selected by the Golden State Warriors. The debate over whether or not the Dubs should trade the No. 2 overall pick has raged for nearly a year, and it may be coming to an end soon if the Dubs give us a clear answer this summer.
The Warriors’ front office was given a wake-up call this season. As it turns out, the Dubs require a little more vigor on the roster before they can compete for a title again. As a result, it has been reported that Wiseman will be available at a reasonable price. So, let’s start, warning, some of these are CRAZY:
1. Paul George. PG is still a superstar and he proved it recently on multiple occasions. It makes no difference which round of the NBA Playoffs the Los Angeles Clippers reach. This season, George averaged 23.3 points per game, the third-highest of his career. The Dubs would have to trade for him, which would require Wiseman, Andrew Wiggins, and possibly several draft picks.
2. Karl Anthony Towns. KAT is a superstar talent. If you remember I have already made a video on this young elite player and the chances of him joining the Dubs’ squad.
Could Wiggins, Wiseman, and two first-round picks be enough? That would be the best deal any team could hope for from Golden State.
3. Domantas Sabonis. Sabonis was named to his second All-Star team this season.
4. Zach Lavine. The Chicago Bulls have worked hard to keep Lavine happy, and they’ve done a good job of it, adding new pieces to the core that should have helped the Bulls make the Play-In Tournament last season.
I will be honest with you, there are a lot of possible trade targets for the Warriors in exchange for James Wiseman but those are the most realistic and beneficial ones amongst others. The problem is not that trade packages or players to replace Wiseman are not fitting, but that the idea of trading away one of the Golden State Warriors’ positive sides is. Anyways, for all the Warriors fans, Bob Myers’ words should be a relief:
“I think he can help us. I expect him to be on the team next year. We don’t want to trade James Wiseman.”
And honestly, such confidence of the organization in this young player makes me happy about the Warriors’ future. The only worry is that time is ticking and this summer might be the most important periods of time for the Golden State warriors’ future.
