While we’re going to spend some time breaking down the District Tournament games coming up this week, we’ll be spending big piece of the show breaking down the Max Preps ranking system.
For those who aren’t aware, the Max Preps Rankings are what determine the seedings at the State Tournament for Idaho. Why does this matter though? Well, you’ll hear about that when we break it down for you today.
How does Eagle, who won the regular season SIC Title, end up as low as they are on the Max Preps Rankings? We want answers but it’s worth bringing it up at least!
And before anyone thinks this is a biased opinion, it’s not. We will also discuss how Middleton is getting the same exact treatment on the 4A side. of things.
So what exactly is the answer to this? How can we get away from this “BCS Style” of ranking system, and go more to a committee board of some sort? It’s a difficult question, but one that we believe needs to be discussed!
We would love to hear what you have to say so please leave us a message in the comment sections on what you would like to see from the ranking system.
Don’t sleep on some of these games coming up in the District Tourney this week starting on Tuesday!
A rematch of last week’s game between Centennial and Mt. View. Can Centennial continue with their sharp shooting? Will Mt. View respond to the adversity under the leadership of their amazing coach, Jon Nettleton? We will see if the Patriots can prove Tai and Shane right by being one. of the teams to surprise a few people throughout the journey to the State Tournament.
We’ll see if Skyview can matchup with Eagle and what happens to the Hawks as AJ had them as a potential sleeper as well. Let’s see who AJ is picking!
Meridian has a tough one against Timberline in the quarterfinals, and although it’s technically a “home game” for the Warriors, both teams had a victory on the other team’s court this season, so it’s far from a guarantee. Meridian finished the regular season with a 1 point victory at Timberline just last week after Brock Voegle nailed a three in the final seconds of the game. This third matchup is expected to be a tough, gritty one for both th Wolves and the Warriors.
Owyhee is looking to continue their winning ways as well in the quarterfinals. They face Rocky Mt. who just finished the play-in game against Kuna this past Saturday, but the last time these two teams matched up, there was probably more excitement in the Student Sections than the actual game itself. We’ll see if the Grizzlies can keep it competitive from the start, otherwise, you may just see another “Storm” brewing quickly!
We’ll also be talking a little Girls State action! Which brings us to another Max Preps discussion on how the rankings impact everyone! But there are some serious college hoopers. that you’ll see out there this week, so make sure to be there for the Girls State Tournament.
