Princess Beatrice ‘to land new role’ after Prince Harry and Meghan’s £18m ‘grifters’ spat.
Princess Beatrice is set to land a new role with Spotify just months after the streaming giant axed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s lucrative £18 million deal.
Despite the Duke and Duchess of Sussex being labelled “fucking grifters” by Spotify executive Bill Simmons after only making just 12 episodes, the company is still adamant about working with the Royal Family, the Mail reports.
The Princess of York reportedly attended an industry event at Spotify’s London office last week as she slowly builds her working relationship with the company.
The Mail’s Emily Prescott wrote: “Harry’s cousin Beatrice appears to be building a working relationship with the company without shouting from the rooftops, perhaps in fear of showing up Montecito’s jam-makers.
“I can reveal that last week Beatrice, 35, attended an industry event at Spotify’s London office, where she hosted a discussion about the future of technology.”
The eldest daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson has always been involved in one way or another in tech and since 2017, she has been Vice-President of Partnerships and Strategy at US software and data firm Afiniti.
According to Ms Prescott, Beatrice is also director of a company called BY-EQ, which “she set up in 2022 under the unassuming name Beatrice York”.
Harry and Meghan saw their lucrative Spotify deal end last summer after only producing one show.
At the time, a joint statement from the Sussexes’ company and Spotify said they had “mutually agreed to part ways”.
Head of Podcast Innovation and Monetization at Spotify Bill Simmons savaged the Montecito couple, branding them “fucking grifters”.
Speaking on his own podcast, Mr Simmons said: “I wish I had been involved in the ‘Meghan and Harry leave Spotify’ negotiation. The Fucking Grifters. That’s the podcast we should have launched with them. I have got to get drunk one night and tell the story of the Zoom I had with Harry to try and help him with a podcast idea. It’s one of my best stories. Fuck them. The grifters.”
Meanwhile, Meghan secured a new deal with podcast distributor Lemonada Media back in February.
The new show, which has not been named yet, will be hosted by Meghan herself, while the company will also distribute her previous Spotify series, Archetypes, to all its podcast platforms.
On Saturday, April 20, the mum to Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice, stepped onto a boat wearing a contemporary fitted blazer from clothing collection Smythe.
Titled “Duchess Blazer Camel”, the tailored blazer has been a Smythe staple since 2011. The single-breasted blazer has a “cheeky” cut-out back vent and brass hardware detailing.
Bringing the limelight back onto the design, Fergie wore hers with a statement bangle and pendant necklace – and fans loved it.
One fan posted to Instagram: “Simple and classy.” Another fan, Emma Hurley posted: “This jacket is a good colour for her and seems to fit well.”
The Duchess of York is likely to have been comfortably warm too while out on the boat as the blazer is made from 100 percent wool, which could explain its price tag of around £586.
Wool is an eco-friendly design choice too, Smythe pointed out, as the material can completely degrade after six months in soil and within five years in marine environments.
Smythe said: “This woven fabric is both Oeko-Tex Certified (free from harmful substances, pollutants, and sustainably produced).”
Moreover, “no harm is done to sheep” to gather the wool for the garment, which was made in Canada.
A much more affordable version of the blazer is selling at Marks and Spencer (M&S), although there are some differences.
While the price point is much more modest at £69, the Relaxed Single Breasted Blazer has more of an on-purpose slouchy fit rather than a fitted silhouette.
The colour is Butterscotch, but there is still only one button, resembling the look of the Smythe Duchess Blazer in Camel.
Shoppers are very pleased with their M&S purchase, however, as one reported that the blazer “is a fab colour and looks expensive”.

Material creases a bit but not enough to spoil wearing it.”#princeharry #meghanmarkle #kingcharles #royalfamily #princewilliam #katemiddleton #camilla #princeandrew #sarahferguson #princesscharlotte #princegeorge #princeloius #archie #britishroyals #royals #princessanne
