Dolphins News: week 2 of Miami Dolphins OTAs are in the books, and the team continues to look solid in practice under first-year head coach Mike McDaniel. Dolphins Today host Will Scott looks at some takeaways and Dolphins rumors coming from week 2 of OTAs, which includes quotes from McDaniel, defensive back Nik Needham, and wide receiver Tyreek Hill. The Dolphins have had a practice player of the day, who earns an orange jersey to the next practice and gets to run the music. So far, the five players of the day have been linebacker Jaelan Phillips, quarterback Tua Tagavailoa, defensive end Zach Seiler, defensive end Christian Wilkins, and offensive lineman Robert Hunt.

Tyreek Hill (on his role with the team):
“Like when I came here, I signed up to work. I didn’t sign up just for the paycheck. I also signed up to be a team leader and also lead this team and show this team how I do things. And how I do things is I work hard, and I want the guys behind me to follow that. So I just can’t be a guy in our locker[room] just saying, ‘Hey, you guys should be doing this, doing that.’ I’ve got to be that guy who’s willing to come out on the field and work hard and show these young guys how to get the job done and potentially win a Super Bowl, so that’s what I’m here for.”
Dolphins Today host Will Scott asked these questions on today’s show!

Mike McDaniel (on the orange jersey):
“There was a lot of talk about my DJ skills pre-team meetings, so to kind of put that to bed…so coach Jon Embree floated the idea of having a practice player. So organically as a staff we came up with selecting a particular person that would not only be represented as the best player on the field from the practice before, but also take all accountability with the DJ selection. So everyone knows it’s the person with the orange jersey making those calls…First day we did it, Jaelean Phillips received some slack. But that was a learning experience for our team. Because if you have any comments or critiques about the DJ list, become the DJ.”

Nik Needham on HC Mike McDaniel:
“In team meetings he’ll say some jokes or just funny stuff, show stuff on film. Like activities for conditioning, we did a putting contest to run one time. I think all that stuff is building camaraderie on the team. We all feel the energy in here and it just feels like a different vibe this year for sure. I love what he’s doing here. He’s a great coach.”
