Sean Payton and George Paton better be paying attention to what just went down with Justin Fields and the Chicago Bears. The 2021 Quarterback draft that was supposedly full of “once in a generation quarterbacks” has turned out to be mediocre at best. Trevor Lawrence is average, Zach Wilson, Trey Lance, Justin Fields, and Mac Jones are all backups who won’t sign their second contract with the team who drafted them. That is why the most recent news about the Minnesota Vikings compiling assets to trade to the 4th for JJ McCarthy is great news. While it’s great to hope that we will find this year’s Josh Allen in the draft, this QB class will have a 36% hit rate just like all the ones in the past. The Denver Broncos are not in the position to move heaven and earth for anything less than a slam dunk. I’m thrilled that the idea of trading up for a QB is all but off the board as it means we will be able to focus on finding the best player available and hope to find a system quarterback like Brock Purdy later in the draft.
I could be WAY off base and I love reading all your comments or thoughts. Does the Justin Fields trade change how you view this year’s draft?
