This is a quick video to show you what’s invovled in building a raised pond. Great if you want a pond at your house without having to dig a big hole in your yard. Also good if you don’t have a big yard. The pond is 1200x1200x45 deep at the highest point. Built using rustic fence palings 150x1800x25 lengths from a local hardware store.
Top of the pond is filled with gravel for filtration which acts as a bog for microorganisms to grow. This keeps the pond water crystal clear.
Plumbed using push fit so no permanent glue fittings required – nice and easy to work with.
The pond has a built in area for elecronics which control the pump and charge the batteries (as it’s solar powered). A solar panel is mounted on the fence which you can’t see in the clip, and an ESP32 microcontroller reports pond readings back to a webserver which I can view. I haven’t filmed this area of the implementation. It isn’t necessary to build this into the pond if your pump will be powered from grid power.
Home of my white cloud mountain minnows. Enjoy!
