Kennewick returned to the championship for the first time in 37 years. In 1984 the Lions lost to none other than Bellevue. The Wolverines made it to this title game for the first time since 2015 and challenges of regrouping from sanctions imposed in 2016. After over a decade of dominating WA State HS football in the early 2000’s, Bellevue won their 11th WA State Championship 17-13 over the Lions on 12/4/2021 at Sparks Stadium in Puyallup.
The game was filled with old school smash mouth football, big hits and exiting multiple big 50+ yard plays and intense from kickoff to the last drive in which the Wolverines took a knee.
Wolverines ’22 RB William Wang had 2 TD’s rushing and 243 of the Bellevue’s 380 total rushing yards on the day. Lions ’22 RB/LB Myles Mayovski had 1 TD on the ground with 87 yards rushing and another score by air, with 73 yards receiving on the day, as well as 13 tackles (7 solo).
