Dez Bryant set a career high with 11 receptions and had 212 yards receiving to go with two touchdowns in No. 8 Oklahoma State’s 34-6 win over Baylor at Boone Pickens Stadium Saturday. With the win, the Cowboys improved to 7-0 on the year.
Though Bryant will get much of the acclaim following Saturday’s win, it should be noted that the Cowboy defense continued its vastly improved play this year by limiting the Bears to their lowest scoring total of the year as well as their lowest yardage output of the season (204 yards).
Baylor got on the board first when Jacoby Jones punched in a one-yard touchdown run in the first quarter, but from that point on, it was all Cowboys. Running back Keith Toston found the end zone from four yards out later in the quarter to set off a string of 34 straight Cowboy points.
Quarterback Zac Robinson had one of his best all-around games of the year, completing 13-of-20 passes for 238 yards and two touchdowns and rushing 14 times for 57 yards. Robinson’s fingerprints were all over the key sequence of the game. Leading, 21-6, the Cowboys faced third-and-29 from midfield. Robinson scrambled for a 23-yard gain to set up fourth-and-six at the Bears 27. Robinson then hard-counted Baylor offsides to bring it to fourth-and-one from the 22 before keeping on an option to get the first down. Five plays later, Toston stung with Bears by finding the end zone for his second touchdown of the game to give the Cowboys a 28-6 lead with only 19 seconds left in the first half.
