Breaking down the scouting, comparison, projection, and more for the true freshman tight end
The tight end position for the Michigan Wolverines is in somewhat of a transitional state. Since Jake Butt, Michigan has yet to feature a true “elite” level tight end. In a Josh Gattis offense that aims to fully utilize speed in space, sometimes it can be hard to see exactly where a tight end fits into that scheme. However, when you have the versatility that Louis Hansen brings to the offense, you have a lot of options.
Starting his high school career as a wide-out, Hansen still has some bulking up to do, but his ceiling is incredibly high as either a flex or inline tight end prospect. At 6’4 or 6’5 depending on who you ask, he brings a great frame to the position. His scouting reports frequently mention his hands, seemingly pointing to a receiving-first tight end with advanced athleticism to pair with his catching ability. Add in a favorable depth chart and it could be a quicker path than usual for the young freshman.
In this episode, I spoke with Hansen personally, and included some of his responses as a part of the video. Let me know if you like this aspect of this episode, and I’ll push to try to get others involved as a part of this series.
