We’ve got some Wednesday action to look at on today’s show but also a look ahead at some UFC and PGA.
Let’s get started in the NBA as Joe Osborne likes a side with the Houston Rockets on the road against the Oklahoma City Thunder. The top two players in this game, John Wall and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander are out tonight. The Thunder have dropped five of their last seven games while the Rockets have won six in a row and the Rockets are sit as the faves in this matchup.

Joe has one more pick on the NBA board tonight and he’s looking at the modest spread with the Atlanta Hawks hosting the Dallas Mavericks. There was a lot of hype and buzz surrounding the Mavs heading into this season as Luka Doncic was the betting favorite for MVP, but it hasn’t been all that rosy for Dallas. The Mavs find themselves at 8-13 and in 13th place in the Western Conference. The Hawks, on the other hand, have been solid at 10-10, but have made improvements defensively allowing 110 points per game.

In the UFC this weekend, we have a heavyweight fight in the Main Event with Alistair Overeem squaring off with Alexander Volkov. Volkov has found himself in this spot before: a chance to get a marque win and move up the rankings to put himself in title contention. While he’s failed in the past, the 6th-ranked fighter will get another chance to do just that against the experienced Overeem. The “Demolition Man” has won his last two fights and is looking to get one last title shot.

In what is shaping up to be a stellar matchup in the Premier League, Aston Villa hosts West Ham. After riling off four-straight league wins, West Ham dropped a 3-1 decision to Liverpool over the weekend. Villa is coming off a hard fought 1-0 win away to Southampton and Ninja keeps it simple here with a moneyline bet.

On to the college hardwood now as Oklahoma State faces TCU at the Ed & Rae Schollmaier Arena in Fort Worth. The Horned Frogs have won the previous four meetings between the schools, but they’ve been struggling this season. TCU sits at 9-7 (2-5 in the conference), whereas Oklahoma State is 11-4 (4-4 in the conference). The Cowboys have been hot on the road having won their last three. Oklahoma State has gone 5-2 in their last seven games with losses coming to Baylor and West Virginia. Iain is looking at the spread here.

The PGA Tour stop this week is in Arizona at the Waste Management Open. What’s usually known as the “party stop” on the PGA calendar will be first PGA event to have a sizable amount of fans to attend in person at a maximum of 5,000 per day. Iain has a bet for this tournament’s straight-up winner. His choice is playing at a high level right now, as he has four Top 10 finishes in the 2021 season.
