News :

According to John McClain of The Houston Chronicle, Coutee and Randall Cobb are the leading candidates for slot snaps in Houston this season.

Coutee saw some outside work late last season when Houston’s wide receiver corps was decimated by injuries, but he’s primarily been a slot specialist throughout his pro career, much like Cobb. Given that Chris Conley and rookie third-round pick Nico Collins appear to be the best bets for the starting job opposite Brandin Cooks, one of the two could see more playing time on the outside this year. In terms of the slot position, Coutee will have a difficult time displacing Cobb, whose $8.25 million base salary is fully guaranteed. Coutee, on the other hand, had 362 receiving yards in the final five weeks of 2020, and he’s only 24 years old as he enters the final year of his rookie contract.
