The top offensive coordinators in the NFL

NFL

It’s an offense-driven league in the NFL. There are a ton of fantastic quarterbacks and a QBR that would have led the league ten years ago is now middling. With the advancements of the passing game, teams started to stack their rosters on defense with smaller and quicker linebackers and safeties to be able to keep up. As defenses got faster to combat the spread concepts and tempo of offenses, offenses started to compete for a limited amount of players that fit their system. What was left, were the big boys. Now teams like the Ravens and Patriots – and some others like the Raiders – started to target those players to get bigger to combat the smaller defenses. It’s all a cat and mouse game and coordinators are trying to isolate their best against the defense’s worst – whether by formation, play design, or personnel packages.

Here are three of my favorite (but not necessarily the best) offenses and the coordinators that run them. Their systems match most closely to what I believe in and I think all three do an excellent job at creating favorable matchups and putting their guys in the right position to succeed.
