There is reason for optimism again in Fayetteville! Arkansas went just 3-7 in Sam Pittman’s first year, but that record is a big deal. Not only did all three of those wins come in SEC play, but it snapped a 21 game SEC losing streak and most likely would have meant a 6-6 or 7-5 record in a normal season. Now Arkansas enters a normal season with loads of talent and all their top coordinators in tact. The offense under Kendal Briles should really take off in 2021. KJ Jefferson is in at QB and is perfect for the RPO style offense that Briles wants to run. RB Trelon Smith is back, the entire offensive line is back, and the Razorbacks also have one of the top WRs in the country in Treylon Burks. The defense took a major step forward in 2020 under DC Barry Odom. With a strong LB core led by Grant Morgan and Bumper Pool and a secondary led by star safety Jalen Catalon, the Hogs should improve even more in 2021. If they can improve their defensive line and pass rush, the Razorbacks could rank in the top half of the SEC when it comes to defense. After winning just 11 games in the last four years, Arkansas is just hoping to continue to see improvement and effort from their team. They will get that each and every week under Pittman. And with a favorable schedule that sees them face only four true road games, a bowl game is well within reach for Arkansas. A feat that has not been accomplished since 2016.
