Lake Taylor was led by senior quarterback Jeff Foster, who accounted for a total of four touchdowns on the evening and helped the Titans bolt to a 21-6 lead at the half. Foster had three rushing scores along with a 28-yard touchdown pass to Camauri Hunter on fourth down.
Hunter also had an interception right before the break to thwart at scoring opportunity for the Truckers, who racked up 301 total yards with 209 of them coming on the ground. Romero Hines ran for 151 yards and two scores in defeat.
Coach Hank Sawyer is now 21-2 in his last 23 meetings with Churchland, including 11 straight victories over the Truckers.
With the win, Lake Taylor improved to 6-0 overall on the campaign for 2020-21. It marked the sixth regional title under Sawyer since 2012 for Lake Taylor and their third in a row.
Churchland finished 4-2 overall and fell to Lake Taylor in the Region 4A Championship for the second straight season. Prior to 2019, they had yet to record a playoff victory and now have three postseason wins.
Next up for Lake Taylor, they play host to Region 4B Champ King George (8-0) in the Class 4 State Semis on Saturday, April 24, 2021. The Titans sit two wins shy of their fourth state title in nine seasons.
