Oregon has won back to back PAC-12 Titles, but the Ducks now have their sites set on more…Making the College Football Playoff. If Oregon wants to finally break through to the Playoff, this is the year they have to do it. The strength of schedule is there, the talent is there, the coaching staff is there, but can the Ducks put it all together? On offense they have everything they need. Joe Moorhead is back as OC to run his RPO offense that should thrive with dual threat QB Anthony Brown who will be starter after the transfer of Tyler Shough to Texas Tech. Brown will be paired with the top two rushers from last year in Travis Dye and CJ Verdell and he also returns his top two pass catchers in Jaylon Redd and Johnny Johnson III.The offense averaged 31.3 PPG last year and that number is expected to improve in 2021. The defense has a chance to be even better than the offense. Oregon is strong in all three levels of the secondary, but the main player to watch is DE Kayvon Thibodeaux who had three sacks last year and was named the conference’s best defensive lineman. LB Noah Sewell returns as the leading tackler from last year and the secondary returns Verone McKinley III and interception leader Jamal Hill to improve a unit that ranked 66th against the pass last year. The expectations in Eugene are to consistently win PAC-12 Titles. Mario Cristobal is doing that and very well could do it again as Oregon is the heavy favorite in the PAC-12. But now it is time to take that next step, and we will see if Oregon has what it takes early on when they face off against Ohio State in Week 2.
